During this season of giving thanks, we are immensely grateful for Patriots like you. Your generosity and unwavering support have allowed us to continue our mission of honoring those who have paid the heaviest price to secure our freedom by providing a positive, hopeful future through education.
It is because of you we have been able to award nearly 25,000 educational scholarships since our founding, including 4,500 in 2019 alone. All across this great nation, you have made an impactful and empowering difference.
Each year we continue to see exponential growth in scholarship applications and, despite record fundraising, the need continues to grow. More than 500 eligible, qualified applicants were not awarded in 2019. We are counting on your continued support to ensure the families who fight for our freedom have access to the education they deserve.

Dear Folds of Honor,
My name is Alicia and it is with great appreciation that I write this. I would sincerely like to thank Folds of Honor for giving me the opportunity to finish my degree. My service member is my husband Ian, he is a true hero, my inspiration and the light of my life.
I am a senior at Metropolitan State University of Denver and through the generous scholarship granted to me I will be receiving my Bachelors degree in Health Care Management. As a veteran I understand the sacrifices associated with serving this great nation. However, it was not until I became a spouse to a disabled veteran that I understood the true meaning of sacrifice.
Upon graduation, I plan to gain employment with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. I am looking forward to working for the many service men and women that have honored our country and fought for our freedom. Thank you for making my dreams a reality!

This year, the Folds of Honor Northern Ohio Chapter has hit the ground running in support of our mission. August was a particularly eventful month for the chapter. They brought their patriotic community together and ensured our military heroes were being honored by raising funds to help support their families pursue their educational goals.
In the beginning of August, the chapter hosted their second annual Folds of Honor Charity Golf Tournament at Barrington Golf Club, raising $156,000. In mid-August, they supported a Patriot Golf Day event in Toledo at Inverness Golf Club, raising $166,000. Towards the end of August, they were able to have a Folds of Honor scholarship recipient family represented at Toledo Jeep Fest, one of the largest Jeep Fests in the nation. Tiffany, Miles and Marlee Eckert led the parade in a special Folds of Honor Jeep dressed in a custom Gold Star Flag made by a local flag shop. The Eckerts were able to honor their father, Sergeant Andy Eckert, and bring awareness to the importance of supporting Folds of Honor.

To salute America’s military heroes and their families, Logan’s Roadhouse the Real American Roadhouse- is proud to launch another community partnership with Folds of Honor.
Now through the December 31st, visit your local Logan’s Roadhouse and round up your check to the nearest dollar to help provide educational scholarships for the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled service members. All the proceeds made from the roundup campaign will go directly toward our scholarship fund.
“Logan’s Roadhouse is proud to serve those who serve in the military. ‘Passion to Serve’ is one of our core values and being able to support local families and children in our backyards is the ultimate way to bring this value to life. Logan’s Roadhouse is a long-time supporter of the U.S. military and in honor of Military Family Month, we’ve set a goal to raise $1 million, enabling us to help provide close to 200 scholarships through Folds of Honor.”

Cleco selected Folds of Honor as the beneficiary for funds raised at its veterans luncheon and annual charitable golf tournament, Tee Off for a Cause.
Both the luncheon on Oct. 16 and the golf tournament on Oct. 17 were in Alexandria, La., near Cleco’s headquarters in Pineville, La. Cleco expects to present the funds raised at these events to Folds of Honor in November.
Cleco has been one of Louisiana’s largest employers since 1935. The company has more than 1,500 diverse employees across Louisiana dedicated to safe operations, generation and delivery of reliable power, economic development and charitable giving.
“Cleco has sponsored a charitable golf tournament for the past five years and donated the proceeds to various nonprofit organizations whose mission aligns with our strategy and goals,” said Anthony Bunting, Chief Transformation Officer for Cleco. “For 2019, we chose Folds of Honor, in support of military families.”
For the veterans luncheon, local businesses joined Cleco in honoring employees who serve or have served in the armed forces. Participating businesses included AFCO Industries, Inc., Christus Cabrini Hospital, Evangeline Bank and Trust Company, Crest Industries, Great-West Financial, Procter & Gamble, Rapides Regional Health Care, Sam Stokes Nursery and UTLX Manufacturing LLC.
The guest speaker for the luncheon was Wesley Bauguess, a Folds of Honor scholarship recipient and author of “God, Golf, Country: Reflections of an Army Widow.” Bauguess is the surviving spouse of Major Larry J. Bauguess, United States Army.
Among the many Veterans honored at the luncheon was distinguished soldier, Reed J. Perilloux, a World War II veteran and former principal of Grant High School in Dry Prong, La.
In support of the charitable golf tournament, Cleco welcomed players and sponsors representing 10 states, including Louisiana.
“We are thankful to our sponsors and golfers for making this tournament a success,” said Leisha Hines, Cleco Senior Insurance and Claims Specialist and Chair of Cleco Tee Off for a Cause. “It’s amazing to see our local communities and surrounding states working together to support such a worthy cause.”
“We are humbled and grateful that these events will benefit Folds of Honor recipients in Louisiana,” said Sara Bush, Director of Golf Relations for Folds of Honor. “The tremendous fundraising efforts are a reminder to the military families we serve that they are not alone and that Cleco and its supporters deeply appreciate the sacrifices they’ve made for our freedoms.”
