| FAMILIES OF FOLDS |
The Stephens family is the definition of strength. While faced with unexpected and unimaginable trials, they have demonstrated a relentless drive to persevere and succeed. Chad Stephens, Folds of Honor Higher Education Recipient and the oldest child of the family, says their “tenacious will to succeed can be attributed to the fact they have been blessed with an incredible role model, their father, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Stephens.”

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Stephens completed three tours in Iraq and works daily to overcome the physical and mental ailments of a combat related traumatic brain injury. In addition, he continues to fight stage four cancer. This last year proved to be his toughest yet as he underwent surgery two months ago to remove a large tumor that threatened his life. His presence at the 2018 Patriot Cup was truly inspiring.

“My father is the most influential man in my life. Sometimes the greatest lessons are all learned through observation of those we strive to be like. I have witnessed him achieve numerous accomplishments with an unrelenting spirit. Each time he faces a challenge, he creates a plan to overcome it and presses on with a combination of strength and grace,” Chad Stephens says.

Folds of Honor is proud to honor the sacrifice of Lieutenant Commander Stephens by helping pave the way for the future successes of his legacy, his sons. Chad Stephens currently attends the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Younger sons, Joey and Max are Children’s Fund Recipients and currently attend Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, OK.
