Meet Anna Chang, Folds of Honor recipient and daughter of Major Roberta Chang. Anna is a junior at the University of Notre Dame, double majoring in Science-Business and Greek Roman Civilization, minoring in Sustainability.
Anna is outgoing and has a passion for experiencing new things, from traveling to the Galapagos Islands for a research project to cohosting a radio show on the student radio station. She is not afraid to tackle the next big adventure.
“I think that being part of a military family has made me more capable of seizing opportunities and not being afraid to travel somewhere new and embrace a different experience. It has showed me to appreciate the connections I have and never be scared of making new ones. You can have an impact on others everywhere you go and also learn from the sacrifices of those around you.”
Anna plans to have a career in environmental consulting or sustainable design, where she will connect science, policy and ethics to show companies how thoughtful design can positively benefit our health and the environment. It is because of her mother she has the confidence to achieve her goals.
“My mother has taught me by example that perseverance and strong mentality will help you succeed in all aspects of life. My sisters and I have all learned to uphold our values and be strong leaders because she has always reminded us of what we can achieve. She has never let me think less of myself and has always encouraged me to accomplish my goals.”
