THE 7TH FOLD
*The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

This is where you will stay connected with all things Folds of Honor, such as impactful partnerships, upcoming events, store promotions and most importantly, the stories of the families you stand with.

FAMILIES OF FOLDS
In 2009, just before Eden was born, her father, Air Force Senior Airman Colton J. Read, lost both of his legs. She’s only ever known her dad without both of his legs, but that doesn’t stop her from thinking he’s a hero and can do anything. To Eden, her daddy isn’t disabled He’s DIFFERENTLY ABLED.

SrA. Colton has shown his daughter what it means to overcome adversity, and she is proud to be the daughter of a military veteran and hero.

If you ask Eden what she wants to be when she grows up, she has a variety of answers. Because like her dad, she knows she can do whatever she puts her mind to. The sky is the limit.

“Being awarded the scholarship would mean my daughter could grow up in an environment where she never has to feel ashamed or embarrassed because her family is different than others. The school, teachers, and families are warm and welcoming and embrace our family. Being in a smaller, classroom environment, the teachers at Eden’s school can provide the attention many veteran children need post-war. This gives me a peace of mind knowing my daughter will grow up being looked after and cared for, even beyond the walls of our home.”

CHAPTER HIGHLIGHT
Chicago Chapter

The 2018 Folds of Honor Gala Navy Pier in Chicago was a huge success. In attendance were more than 450 patriots including retired Navy SEAL Darren McBurnett as the Master of Ceremonies. Folds of Honor Founder and CEO Major Dan Rooney gave a “State of The Union”. To date, Folds of Honor has awarded nearly 20,000 scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled service members.

The night included inspirational speeches from Folds of Honor scholarship recipient Nathan English, whose father died in 2006 when Nathan was only eight years old. Also speaking was Purple Heart recipient LCpl Robert (aka Bobby) Curtis. He spoke about how woodworking has helped him cope with his PTSD following his time in combat.

At this year’s Gala, Bobby made a wooden American flag, which was signed by all retired and active duty military personnel who attended the event. The American flag was then auctioned off to help support the military families Folds of honor serves. To date, the Folds of Honor Chicago Chapter has raised more than $5,500,000.

After raising more than half a million dollars for Folds of Honor, Bill and Connie Schey did it again. The Scheys, of Barrington, and more than 40 construction workers, contractors and veterans donated their time, money and material to build a brand new home in Johnsburg, Illinois. The Johnsburg house raised $450,000 for Folds of Honor, and plans for Folds of Honor House #3 are well on it’s way for 2019.

The house was featured on Fox and Friends and moved the hearts of many. Click here to view the segment.

“Thank you to all of the companies and tradesmen who contributed, for working tirelessly to help us get this house as beautiful as it is. We could not have done this without any of you and we cannot express our gratitude.”

CALL TO ACTION

As we near the end of 2018, let us once again reflect on the many blessings this year has brought, counting freedom as one of our greatest blessings. Courtesy of the less than 1% who are willing to sacrifice everything for the good of our country.

As supporters of our mission you have proven time and time again your patriotism and generosity.

As the year comes to a close and we face a deficit of approximately 700 deserving families whom were turned away this year due to lack of funds, we would ask for you to renew your support of our mission through a gift to our end of year campaign.
