Karrington Tipler is a junior from Florissant, Missouri attending Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi and studying Biology/Pre-Medicine. She enjoys dancing, planning campus-related activities as one of the university’s lead “Blue Ambassadors” and being an active participant in community events. In her leisure time, Karrington loves to travel and fellowship with friends and family. Her ultimate goal is to become a registered nurse anesthetist.
Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Terence B. Tipler is Karrington’s father. He served for 25 years working as a Personnel Specialist and Motor Transport Operator, deploying to southwest Asia and then Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and numerous others.

Friday May 3rd, 2019 was a big night for Folds of Honor Indiana. America’s favorite pastime and the greatest spectacle in racing joined together to support Folds of Honor in our mission.
Indiana’s AAA minor league baseball team, the Indianapolis Indians, hosted Indy 500 night at the iconic Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. The Indians designed special jerseys incorporating the Tribe logo and featuring the famous yard of bricks from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, giving mention to the 103rd Indy 500. The right sleeve had the embroidered Folds of Honor logo.
The jerseys, worn by all the players, managers, coaches and even Rowdie the bear, were auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting FOHIN. Their very own President, Mike Daggett, threw the first pitch and was gifted a jersey with his name. Throughout the game, videos played sharing the story and mission of Folds of Honor. It was an incredible night of fun, baseball and purpose for Folds of Honor Indiana. The jersey auction raised $7000!
We are so grateful to the Indianapolis Indians and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for their support in this great event.

Folds of Honor Founder Major Dan Rooney and Rite Aid Senior Vice President of Category Management Bill Renz celebrate The Rite Aid Foundation’s latest contribution to Folds of Honor.

The Rite Aid Foundation has been a passionate partner of Folds of Honor since 2015. To date, The Foundation has awarded nearly 1,600 scholarships totaling over $7 million to the children of military service members who have been killed or seriously wounded while serving our country.
Now, The Rite Aid Foundation is extending its commitment. During Memorial Day weekend, The Rite Aid Foundation announced an additional, three-year, $6 million commitment to Folds of Honor, bringing the total to more than $13 million to benefit deserving military families.
Bill Renz, Senior Vice President of Category Management and member of The Rite Aid Foundation Board, announced the latest donation alongside Major Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder, during the Patriot Cup Invitational. The additional commitment was also featured during a special segment of “Fox & Friends.”
There’s no better way to honor the tremendous sacrifice of our military heroes than by helping their children have the educational foundation they need to achieve their dreams.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with Folds of Honor and help advance the important work we are doing together,” said Renz. “We know these scholarships make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families who receive them, and we look forward to making an even greater impact over the next three years.”
We cannot thank The Rite Aid Foundation enough for its tremendous support in helping the children of our military heroes gain access to better educational opportunities, and ultimately, brighter futures.

Folds of Honor would also like to give special recognition to
This year commemorated the 7th anniversary of the Polar Bear Plunge. Every winter, the Drucker Wealth Management team takes a plunge in the ocean to raise awareness and funds for Folds of Honor. This year, the plunge took place on January 6th on Long Branch Beach, New Jersey.
To date, Drucker Wealth Management has raised more than $13,000. We are beyond grateful for their support and look forward to the 2020 Polar Bear Plunge!

Emerald Golf Club in New Bern, NC celebrated their 10th Annual Patriot Golf Day Tournament on Saturday, June 1st with their biggest field and donation to date.
Lead by PGA Director of Golf, Jerry Briele, the tournament has become a tradition in this tight knit community. As a pledge to the hard work shown by Jerry and his committee as well as the city’s commitment to the mission, New Bern Mayor Dana Outlaw proclaimed the week of May 27th to June 2nd “Folds of Honor Week” in New Bern.
“I was moved to action by Major Dan Rooney’s message 10 years ago and haven’t looked back since”, said Briele. “I encourage everyone to always have an open heart and be willing to accept the opportunity to help others especially in times of need”.
Former Folds of Honor recipient Hannah Davis, and current resident of Greenville, SC shared her story with all in attendance and how her Folds of Honor scholarship allowed her to pursue her college education. Her brother Blake is a current scholarship recipient.
This year’s 10th anniversary tournament raised an outstanding $50,000 bringing Emerald Golf Club’s lifetime giving total to a remarkable $250,000!
